Dear Friends,

A wind of change is blowing through our sports world and right now everyone can feel it. Since my elections, back in 2005, I knew our Federation had to ''raise from its ashes'', working hardly on its image, its troubled financial situation and mostly on its self-confidence.

I can look behind today and proudly gather at the massive work carried out: attentive contacts with the IOC and the international sports Bodies, common sacrifices to fix the balance, and mostly, a full co-operation from my central committee and from a mass of valuable friends who contributed to the development of the roller sports all over the world.

NEW SEEDING FORMULA AT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS AVOIDS MATCHING TOP TEAMS AGAINST LESS PROFICIENT TEAMS

A new dual format for world competitions was tried for the first time in 2006 by CIRILH. It is not our intention to embarrass new teams through grossly mismatching them with far more experienced teams. CIRILH remains ambitious for our sport of inline hockey to grow and include more countries from all over the world. The past dropout rate for new teams in FIRS world inline hockey championships was too great. A new seeding and awards
approach for teams entering the FIRS Inline Hockey World Championships was tested last year to correct this situation. Every team, regardless of previous world championship experience still remains on a direct path toward earning a World Championship Gold Medal. New teams to the world championships are not entering a secondary event or a "B" World Championships. The eight (8) highest finishing teams from the previous world championship (2006) will be separated in the round-robin from the less proficient teams, positioning these in Group 1, because they have previously demonstrated their ability to compete successfully at the Gold
Medal level. These 8 teams from Group 1 are divided into round-robin Pool groups A and B.

The teams finishing ninth (9) and below from the 2006 world championship are assigned to Group 2, along with any other teams newly entering or reentering the World Championships. These teams are also divided into two pools for round-robin, indicated as C and D. Only six (6) teams from Group 1 can qualify after the round robin to advance to gold medal play. The top finishing team from both Pool C and Pool D of Group 2 will play the lowest placements in Pool A and Pool B of Group 1, and the winner of this challenge game will enter the World Championship gold medal competition.

After pool play, the contest is basically split into two separate events:
1) The FIRS World Inline Hockey Championship, containing the top 8 teams and

We continue to seek your support for the newly constituted RS.  We have been able to organize several events this year and know that we are short on equipment to get these events organized properly to meet minimum standards.  We are trying very hard to do so and need your help.Besides officials and volunteers,  RS needs some basic timing and video equipment to help us with the events and competition lined up for the rest of the financial year.   The budget allocated from SSC does not cover some of these basic equipment and we would like to appeal to you and those you know to help us find donors for them.  We will be pleased to acknowledge all donations on our website. We know that you love the sport and ask that you help us so that we can bring the sport to others.

Is Agressive inline a dangerous sport?
Not really. You take as much risk as you choose to take. It's only
dangerous if you push yourself to the point of that's-just-silly.

Does it hurt when you fall?
Yes.

Even with protective gear?
Can you get hurt when you're wearing a seatbelt?

Ok, so why do you do it if it's so painful?
We don't do it for the pain, trust me. We do it coz it's so amazing to
land a trick that looks impossible. It's incredible feeling to do

Interview with Winner of Urban Extreme, Note (Mr Apichat Rutnin as translator):

Q: What is the worst injury you’ve had?
A: Finger broken and a long time ago, I hit my face on the concrete.

Q: So you’re not afraid if you do the same trick again after you got hurt?
A: Just forget it… if you fell like one time, I think you can do it [the next time] because you know you have learned. Because you fail and you know why you fail.

Q: Did you like competing in Singapore?
A: Yes. I hope come back Singapore again for the next competition.

Quotable quotes from Apichat Rutnin

Proud of Yourself
No matter how bad you do in a day against other people, if you are better than yesterday, that is important. You should be proud of yourself .

Asian Athletes a Miracle
Of course, Australians, Americans and some Europeans, they’ve been doing it for over 20 years; so naturally, their system is very well developed in supporting [the scene]. Take into account the support they get from the government, from the private sector, the achievement that is the Asian athletes today is a miracle already.
