For the 1st time, our speed skaters will be taking part in the World Championships as National Athletes.  We are proud to announce that Mr Daryl Chan, Mr Lai Yongquan and Ms Ethel Lui have been selected to represent Singapore at the coming 2006, CIC Speed Worlds from 1-9 September.

The selection criteria and process:

Objective Evaluation Criteria:  This is based on athlete participation and performance at our local competitions, namely the NISM, Samsung and RS Points Series.

Subjective Evaluation Criteria:  Includes commitment to high performance goals, competitiveness - ability to perform at major tournaments, attitude and work ethics.

Standard Criteria: Must be Singapore Citizen or holding a Singapore passport, participated in a recgonized year round subjective training program, committed to making the sacrifices required to obtain international experience necessary to reach high performance goals and demonstrating said commitment through international tournament participation.

Nominations received had to be presented with credentials and proper verification.  Athletes selected were interviewed and required to sign an Athletes Code that included sections on sportsmanship, commitment to team priority, sponsorship and anti doping conduct.
